There's been a lot of talk in the comments section about the fact that I am focusing on the negative aspects at FNLC and some folks think that I should be concentrating on the things that are trying to make this company better. I often receive comments about two members of the exec team in particular, and there seems to be a perception that they are being unfairly singled out for all of the company's woes.
You know what? That is true. These two people are being unfairly singled out. They aren't to blame for all of FNLC's current problems. Let's not forget all of their cronies and sycophants who do their bidding while historically turning a blind eye to disastrous (and illegal) situations simply because they were still benefitting from the money they generated!
I ask you, the Last NLC community, to refrain from bashing the same two individuals over and over again. They have had plenty of help bringing this company to the verge destruction, and we shouldn't forget the below-average and underqualified management team members who have constantly demonstrated their ability to "do what is required" to save their own jobs while slogging through the path of least resistance. These fine examples of incompetence deserve our attention as well.
And for those of you looking for some positivity about FNLC, I suggest you read whatever nonsense passes for news and information on the corporate intranet site these days. I am well beyond giving the company any benefit of the doubt to believe that they have any of my best interests or well-being in mind and I will continue to make sure that the voices of the employees who have their livelihoods hanging in the balance with every poorly-made exec decision are heard.

There is no one that disagrees with you about the reasons why the company is where it is at and who is responsible and why these people are responsible. These people deserve every negative comment said about them along with their compadres. Maybe like "Scrooge" management can change. All I am asking is that we give them the benefit of the doubt. Let's publish both. Any great decisions made by them get noticed as well as the bad decisions. A lot of jobs depend on this companies success. There are still some really talented people who work for First NLC who need their jobs.

the retail side of the company has not only watched good people walk out the door, upper management has practically pushed them out. The company barely kept its head above water during the good times and continued adding regional and divisional managers when things got worse. The philosophy was to add more senior managers and pay the big salaries rather than concentrate on what was going on in the branches. Now a lot of good people have left and all the other good ones are searching for a better job. Senior management were all worried about their jobs and not strong enough to voice opinions that could have bettered the company. And now what? The same managers trying to figure out what to do next in a tough lending enviroment.
It doesn't matter how much financial backing the company may have when all of the really talented employees decide to leave. At that point, you still have the same senior managers trying to lead a much less qualified group of employees. Sounds to me like a very rough road ahead.

Anna, I couldn’t have said it better myself. As a matter of fact most people could not have said it better.
I worked for this place for a long time. Too long. I always knew right from day one that "#1" (as I will refer to him) was a dirt bag jerk with a fake smile. He cares of nothing other than himself and his son's interests. Don't let the brief visits and misleading memos fool you. He is pure 100% dirt bag.
Some of you will call me bitter but you could not be more wrong. I planned well in advance before this mess took place and prepared for it. I'm doing fine. My only regret is that too many friends I knew in this company stuck it out under the false reassurances from "#1".
Now a lot of my co-workers are unemployed with no chance of becoming re-employed anytime soon.
Trashing? Yes they deserve it. It's time they stop taking advantage of other peoples trust for their own personal gain.
