Hey Daddy and Junior - Don't Forget Tax Time!!!

Great comments from henshelsforjail (love the username) today got me thinking about a potential problem former FNLC'ers may face during the next few months. I'm talking about the possibility of our W-2 forms being delayed or not being sent at all. This was something my team discussed when we were laid off a few months before the company went bankrupt. Given the fact that many of us had problems signing up for unemployment benefits due to erroneous bookkeeping, it wouldn't surprise me if this nasty W-2 business is swept under the rug, at least until the last possible minute.

To put things into perspective, I earned money from four different entities in '07, including a brief stint collecting unemployment after Daddy and Junior sent me on permanent vacation. Not surprisingly, three of the four W-2's have already been sent to me. Guess who the fourth is?

Here's the thing - I don't like to wait until the last minute to file taxes. I either WANT MY REFUND RIGHT NOW or I want to have some time to pay my amount due before April 15th. I imagine many of you feel the same way. Hell, I bet there are some of you that are expecting a refund and could really use the cash since, y'know, First NLC isn't around to deposit that paycheck into your bank account twice a month.

Has anybody received their W-2 yet? Right now, I'm not expecting much, other than one final screw job by Daddy and Junior. On the other hand, at least I didn't foolishly and arrogantly run my company into the ground, so I guess I have that to be thankful for!

W2's will go out. Know that they were printing them couple of days ago according to a inside source.

Iseenothing,

I sure hope you are right. Bad enough I'm going to have another out of business company on my resume wothout having my refund delayed by these jokers.

Anna,

I worked at FNLC for about five years and they were always late with W-2's. Every year it was in the middle of the 2nd week of February, on the 9th or the 10th. Don't know how they got away with it, but that was my experience.

Been there said...

I worked for FNLC for 3+ years at the Concord OPs center. Our W-2's were never late. Last year and maybe the year before you could print them out from our intranet by the 31st. I don't know what office you were at, but I would think all employees had access.

FYI, they have to be post marked by Jan. 31st, therefore not receiving them in the mail until the first week in Feb. or so.

Lighten up!

For people looking to file taxes, please take time to read this little "rant". Because you might be more negatively affected by the incompetence of "Daddy Whore Bucks" and his cronies of bankruptcy lawyers.

But first, I want to address this issue: "been there", I love how many people are still out there that are still in the "forgiving" or just "let's make excuses for a bunch of crooked slimeballs, because hopefully it will get us in with the make believe rich". Sorry, the company did not do anything good for anyone who was at the bottom. It didn't and hasn't done beneficial for anyone - including the owners. They were/are pigs who got greedy, and this is karma paying them back in spades!

Now onto something more important about the tax filing issue:
I have talked with a few people here from the Anaheim office, and no one has gotten their W-2's. Plus, people have still not received their last paychecks. This is going to be a FUN tax year.

Oh, and by the way for those of us that were lucky enough to be sent on that "permanent vacation", all courtesy of the "Hench-shels" - there are some folks who have their last checks. You can use them as a basis for filing your taxes. However, on some of the checks - if not all - the BONEHEADED SCUMBAGS did not put their tax id or their company logo on the checks. So if you are filing, the IRS might have some questions regarding that. If you take it over the H&R or an tax preparation place they will tell you that they cannot file the claim without some sort of "certification". If you have previous claims, that you can bring with you - that will assist them with filing. But don't quote me. I'm just warning people out there that this company and it's upper echelon of chronies is still on done screwing the people that made money for them!

And for those that would give them "credit" - look at how defunct the company is and was! A lineage of lies, bad decisions, and abuse - that is the premise of "Doing what is required". Yes, "what is required" to make the Hench-$#!ts fatter at the expense of hard working employees and customers! Sun really lucked out!

Bottom line - W2's probably won't get to you. Sue the company if you can and take them for all you can get. I mean come on, it's not like they were anywhere near the level of sainthood that defenders on this blog seem to equate this crooked family to. I say let's put "Daddy Henshel Whore Bucks" in jail where he and his brood belong!

THE BEST TIME OF MY LIFE WAS WORKING FOR NLC. I WISH THEY WOULD REOPEN SO I COULD BE A MSO

I loved first nlc. It was probably the best time of my life. The commission split towards the end was phenomenal, and when you didn't close 5 loans and they cut your revenue was sweet too.

Hopefully they reopen, I would love to be an MSO too!

I wish they were still open... i need to refi and I want to have 4 points on my loan.

Wellll, it's the 5th of February, and the W2's are still a hit and miss with the crowd out here in Anaheim! I just got done calling about 4 of the ol' co-workers...3 of them don't have theirs yet, and 1 has a problem with the amount of stuff on the form.
Best be checking the amounts to the last check that you received folks. It sounds like the "accounting" department is either up to the standards of their employer - either just grossly incompetent or trying to "creatively adjust" numbers to cook their books! Just remember that these are the yahoos that steered their "compliance department" to just box stuff up, right after a federal audit found huge gaps in the way that the company was cataloging the loans that were finalized or scrubbed. With that in mind, I just got done talking to a lawyer and her accountant her in Aliso Viejo. She said that because they are being scrutinized by the bankruptcy claim, they could try to pull some underhanded tactics like cooking their numbers so that it buys them time to "fix their financial problems". Of course, this would be to their advantage and the immediate disadvantage of the employee. Either way, because of the fact that we worked for the crooks, we are still getting screwed!
Someone posted something earlier about talking with your tax folks. I would not recommend just taking it to anyone - H&R seems reputable, but check on what they recommend before filing. If you can, find an tax accountant that worked for the IRS. Surprisingly, there are a lot of them listed in the yellow pages. You will definitely score with someone who worked in their fraud prevention dept.
I don't have my W2 yet, but I am definitely taking my lawyer's advice! I don't trust these @-holes for anything now! Thank God we don't have another year of tax issues to deal with - regarding employment for SHYSTERS! (For the illiterate supporters of Neal&Sons and the Henchmen Family too - I used Shyster because I thought it to be appropriate with your flagrant disregard for the law when it comes to business and the treatment of employees. It is pathetic that sonny boy was able to obtain the title of attorney. All things considered, all of you are as Webster puts it, "shy*ster Slang
An unethical, unscrupulous practitioner, especially of law."
It's fitting, I'm another hoping that by the time you are reading this, you will have a Federal indictment handed to you!"

Someone help! There has to be someone we can call to get these W2's. I am sure we are all in the same boat, THAT WE NEED MONEY! Anybody know who to get a hold of?

Go look at the FNLC website. It has all the information you need.

Been there said...

It looks like there's a WARN act movement against FNLC. This is the contact info I received via e-mail from a former employee. I don't know how sucessful it can be since the company is already in BK, but I guess it can't hurt to find out.

Submit your info via http://masslayoff.com.

get over it already....find another job or a new career instead of bashing the company. Do you think you are owed something? We all got a little screwed in the end, but i think that most of us took the experience and MOVED ON!

Have fun in the unemployment line you loser...I am sure we will see you at Burger King talking about how you were screwed over by First NLC....do you want fries with that?

Anna Nonymous said...

Jonny - if "been there" wants to rake the dead carcass of FNLC over the coals in order to get a few bucks, good for him/her.

I have a new job - and new career - but I see nothing wrong with turning the screws on FNLC for every last penny.

Just because you are over it, doesn't mean everybody else has to be. These fucktards lied to their employees. Those lies caused countless setbacks for many of us. I can totally understand why people would still want to pursue what they feel they are owed.

Anna,

Do you ever look in the mirror and ask yourself why you love negative energy so much? Is you life so empty and unhappy that you enjoy posting only negative comments about your former employer and your former coworkers whose opinions differ from yours? Anytime one of us has a positive comment to voice about the company, etc. or about moving on, you have the desparate need to tell the person why he or she is wrong for voicing his or her opinion. You must love misery and want others to share in it with you.

I personally see a lot of things wrong with turning the screws on First NLC. You personally cannot move on with your life because you are so bent on getting even with someone for giving you a job. No one forced you to work for First NLC. You chose to take the job and you chose to continue to work for the company even though you say you disagreed with the way the company was being managed by "daddy" and "jr". Do you not see yourself as a hypocrit.

You should have quit if you did not like the way the company was being managed. Instead, you are angry because you got laid off or fired, noone really care which it was except you. Only when you knew the writing was on the wall did you decided to turn against the management you once supported.

Get a life!!!!

Anna Nonymous said...

jenny,

You've asked me to get a life - well, what are YOU doing on this blog, and why are YOU so concerned about MY life?

Seriously - if you have "moved on" and had no qualms with the way the last year at FNLC was handled, why are you bothering to stop by this corner of the Internet?

Listen here - don't post any of your Dr. Phil psycho-babble mumbo-jumbo when you can't even spell words correctly.

Everybody needs and outlet to vent their frustrations. Some folks go to the gym. Some stuff their fat necks full of Twinkies. Others throw mattresses out of hotel windows during corporate functions. Me? I've put together a blog that chronicles all of the nonsense that went down during my tenure at the worst company I have ever worked for.

40,000+ visitors can't be wrong. Why don't you put together your own blog about how wonderful FNLC was and see how many people agree?

The mob rules, sweetheart. Deal with it.

Anna,

40,000 plus people may have visited the blog but there are not 40,000 negative comments written about First NLC. Maybe you should reread what you write and get your facts straight. I think Jenny is right, you need to get a life. Many of your coworkers have written positive comments only to be blasted by you for expressing a different point of view. You must be one unhappy individual.

Hey it's Anna's site - if she wants to blast FNLC then by all means, she has the right to do so! I've been a regular reader of this site and I applaud her efforts to expose the shenanigans that went on at First NLC. As a former employee of FNLC, I wholeheartedly agree that it was THE worst company I have ever worked for. Does it make me an unhappy person because I still harbor resentment towards them? Not at all! It makes me feel better by reading that I was not the only one who felt misled.

Perhaps by exposing how the Henschels managed everything so poorly, it will help future employees make a more informed decision to NOT work for them when they start their next company (which I am certain will happen again in the near future). I am curious why so many defenders of FNLC are drawn to this site and keep posting if they have such a problem with what everyone is saying here. Like Anna said, go post a pro-FNLC site and see what kind of responses you get!

Plus, it's all entertaining, so lighten up! :)

This just in on FBR. It looks like even they want to get some cash back out of FNLC once the bankruptcy clears!

FBR Swings to Loss on Mortgage Losses
Thursday February 21, 9:15 am ET
FBR Posts $270.4 Million 4th-Qtr Loss on Goodwill Write-Down and Subprime Mortgage Losses
ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Investment bank Friedman, Billings, Ramsey Group Inc. said Thursday it swung to a fourth-quarter loss due to a write-down of goodwill and losses tied to subprime mortgages.
FBR lost $270.4 million, or $1.77 per share, during the fourth quarter, compared with earnings of $3.8 million, or 2 cents per share, during the same period the previous year.
Total revenue tumbled to $19.1 million from $340.7 million, a year earlier.
Among the fourth-quarter losses, FBR took a $108 million non-cash write-down of goodwill.
The company also lost $40 million as it reduced the value or incurred losses tied to the sale of about $200 million in subprime mortgages originated by its former lending subsidiary First NLC Financial Services.
Subprime mortgages are loans typically given to customers with poor credit history.
First NLC was shut down and filed for bankruptcy in 2007. FBR expects to recover about $70 million of its overall fourth-quarter losses when First NLC is discharged from bankruptcy.
FBR also lost $16.2 million as it reduced the value of its merchant banking and subprime securities portfolios.
For the full year, FBR lost $660.3 million, or $3.95 per share, compared with a loss of $67.3 million, or 39 cents per share, in 2006.
