Did you know we still had people employed in the Concord (California) ops center? Neither did we, apparently. I received word earlier today that there was an EVICTION NOTICE posted on the front door of the office from the building's property management company. We haven't been paying our $50,000 monthly rent for quite some time. This was brought to accounting's attention and supposedly we are going to take care of this "error."
Can you imagine that? What company conveniently forgets to pay a $50,000 monthly rental bill? Sounds like we're doing "what is required" again by walking away from a problem and ignoring it while throwing a bunch of innocent employees under the bus. If I were any of the people still working in that office, I'd demand an explanation, apology and assurance this will never happen again. I'd also appoint one employee to camp out in the office overnight this evening to make sure everybody isn't locked out in the morning.
Yep, things are really looking good for us. Here's a tip for all of you: if there is an EVICTION NOTICE on your office door, you can make a safe assumption that our half-baked Alt-A program isn't going to be the magic potion that will turn this company around.

I guess I should start off by saying that unlike the creator of this blog I will not go anonymously. My name is Rhonda Taylor and I worked for First NLC for almost 5 years and worked in a number of positions.. I will say that overall I do agree with a lot that was said.. this person (creator) does seem to in a very scary way, to have his facts straight.. I say scary because really the only thing Im really getting out of all this is that he or should I refer to him as S.C is extremely bitter and First NLC to him seems more like a bad break up with a girlfriend or boyfriend for that matter... Its sad that his own views of what happened although factual are VERY overshadowed by his vindictive nature...If and.. ONLY If this is the person I think wrote this letter.. MR. C... I find it EXTREMELY humorous... In fact I LAUGH OUT LOUD at your overwhelming need to express your compassion for us poor working class.. frankly your just full of it.. when you worked for the company you in your upper management position making a HELL of a lot of money would NOT EVER give ANY of us poor working shmucks the time of day.. oh except the attention of a certain married AM.. So please how easy is it when daddy and junior as you put it let you go that you now are pissed off… well, I say join the crowd… We are all pissed off… It sucked to loose my job.. I am a single mom that was barely getting by even when I was working and NO I’m not working yet… I, unlike you harbor no hard feelings for First NLC… I am involved in the overtime lawsuit because bottom line the way us poor working schmucks were paid was wrong.. And for that I will handle my business, we will get our day in court . What I don’t do is waste days on end sitting unproductive in front of my computer steaming on how I was so wronged by a company… You actually act surprised that Daddy and Jr. are in this to make money..?? Hell.. The last time I checked most people start a company to make money… and when that company starts to sink… well.. Cut the expenses… Have you ever watched Survivor ?? Get over it.. You’ve been voted off and that’s the way it is… if you were sitting in the final 2 you wouldn’t be bitching right now if you still had your chance at a million… bottom line it’s a control issue… WE ALL KNEW OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THIS COMPANY… and WE ALL complained everyday… we could of quit at ANY TIME !!! Frankly… were just pissed that we didn’t quit the company.. The company quit us first….. I am sad for my co-workers… and for the ones that are left… I had fun working there.. I loved my group that I worked with… It was a job… If you feel you have been wronged.. Then by all means, get a lawyer and go to court It’s America and we can do that… but if your just bitter… and pissed.. that’s ok too.. But move on… who knows what the road ahead holds… Maybe.. Just maybe… First NLC did you a favor…. An in closing… for GOD SAKES state your name… be a man and own up to what you do… Only a coward hides… You sound so scared of the recourse that First NLC will do to you if they find out who you are… I say… “who gives a shit” …….you can start by posting this comment to the public…

I'm anonymous because I may still work at the company. As stated before, they have made it extremely difficult to look for other employment options during this time. Because of this, I DO harbour ill feelings to FNLC. This was the last straw for me after seeing countless unethical deeds that were slipped under the rug.
Yes, I am vindictive with regards to this company. I believe I have earned that right. Quite frankly, this company deserves nothing less - they have treated many people like garbage and it's only a matter of time until they receive what they have been dishing out all of these years.
They are basically giving us all two choices: quit or be stuck here with no other prospects. As much as I dislike being here, I would rather be making money than collecting unemployment. Besides, what better way to spend my time on the payroll?
PS - you asked me to "be a man" - that would require extensive amounts of surgery ;-)
If this is truly the case and you are not S.C.. then I stand corrected on that part and offer apologies to S.C. As one of the more longer term employees and many years in the industry what choices that were made at First NLC although not popular were not abnormal for industry..right or wrong... in fact this was the 4th company that I have worked for that has shut down... but the first to give me anything.. No other company gave me severance pay.. one company told me to leave the key on the desk on my way out.. they didnt even fly in to say thank you.... We all make choices everyday... and the very fact that you have lead me to believe that you still work for the company and are, I say blessed with a paycheck then you should be ashamed of yourself being on line everyday writing crap about a company that is still giving you money to feed your family while you piss the day away is beyond me...
Maybe you should be thanking God for what you do have in your life and quite complaining about what someone didn't give you..... I'm sorry if I sound so very harsh It's just hard to sit back and read and not feel sorry for anyone that would actually allow themselves to not be in control of there own future... Letting a company dictate my happiness is not the way I live... correct what is wrong and move on...
Believe me - with the insane amount of hours I'm forced to work, I deserve a few moments here and there to post to the blog. Besides, it helps fill up the lunch hour.

Don't tell me I should be "ashamed" of myself. I don't "owe" FNLC anything. In fact, it's quite apparent (based on the number of lawsuits out there) that if anybody owes anything, it's FNLC.
The employee/employer relationship is a two-way street. To think that I should be thankful for getting below-market compensation(based on my hourly calculations) without any chance of improving my situation would be absurd. I am between a rock and a hard place. I refuse to accept it and say "thank you" each time my paycheck manages to clear.
Keep in mind that everything I post in this blog is completely true and accurate. I'm sorry if you don't like the facts.
One more thing: FNLC doesn't "give" me a paycheck. I EARN it.

you are correct.. there are alot of law suits out there... but... that is handled in court.. I can probably speak for my coworkers in the fact that those of us that are involved in the suite truly put in long long days and nights.. just as you state.. but we didn't log onto blogs daily and spend out time... we worked through our lunches and dinners to get the work done...

AGAIN you seem to have inside information about the company... I have NO loyalties to First NLC... but I am in control of my choices.. when I make a bad choice I will cop to it.. some of your points are justified.. but others seem only to point that you made some bad choices and want to blame everyone but yourself... Excuses? No excuses here. Yes, I interviewed for the job and yes, I agreed to my compensation. However, I DID NOT agree to all of the other BS I am putting up with. That was not stated in my offer letter, nor was it discussed in my interview. If my interviewers were as honest with me as I was with them, there is no way I would have accepted this position.
How much time do you really think this blog takes? Two hours a week, max, and most of that is done from home. Who do you think you are to assume what I should be doing with my time? MY TIME starts at 5:30 each evening. And do you know where I typically am at that time? In the office. Working. On MY TIME.
Again, you state that I should be thankful for my job. Well, I'm not. I expect more from my job just as I demand more out of myself. I'm thankful for OPPORTUNITIES, and I have precious little of those right now thanks to the way this company has been run. I want to improve my career and not sit back and take things as they come and accept whatever is passively handed to me.
I am amazed that you are defending the very entity that has put you in your current situation. Do you truly believe that you were treated fairly? Do you honestly think that there were no other measures the company could have taken to save the jobs of you and countless others? Do you know how many jobs COULD have been saved by backing out of the Boca Raton office deal or by planning more than two months ahead?
You are unemployed because of some extremely foolish decisions made by some extremely foolish people. I (and several other folks) tried to dissuade these people from making these decisions, but our suggestions and advice went unheeded.
You choose to accept this. I do not.

I could care less that you are unhappy with your job... Morally the decisions First NLC made were wrong.. Rhonda, you sound very bitter. I can understand why you lost your job at First NLC. I see that you are still unemployed. With that attitude of yours, no one is going to hire you. You come across as a very bitter personality. I also read that you are a single mom. I would have left you also. It sounds like you are just waiting around for your "payday" from the lawsuit.
postingalong, there is no need to criticize Anna or Rhonda. They each have their own point of view; one from corporate and the other from Concord. Two totally different environments.

The good thing about "posting" is that I am free to say whatever the hell I want to. And I do not need to be lectured by you "BEEN THERE". I did need to address Rhonda, because of her constant negative rants.
Postingalong, I am not saying you can't address any negativity you percieve; there was no need to comment on her personal circumstance. And, Rhonda was laid off with the rest of the office, not fired.
I too worked for TLC. I am a processor and worked with First NLC wholesale. Oh my stars what a company. Years ago First NLC was a good company and I enjoyed working with wholesale. So when the offer came to work for retail, I thought great! Oh what a mistake. The two managers were verbally abusive. The second one would tell you to do something one way then turn around and say he never said that. I started taping our conversations it was so bad. I quit just before they closed the office. It was like working in a frat house. He even ran porn movies in his office. Complaining to management was a joke. One of the other processors did that and she was fired or should I say railroaded by the branch manager and the national processor. It was horrible. Hostile work place you bet!

I'm sorry if you feel I was being negative.. I just feel that If one has a true beef then do something about it... take it to court... why sit around complaining ?? I just think its a waste of time...I love the fact that if it wernt for First NLC I wouldnt have met some GREAT very genuine people.. and for your info.. It's almost June and FBR said it was going to do something about First NLC's failure to make any money.

I haven't stopped posting, but there really hasn't been any news. The company continues to fine-tune products like Scoremore and figure out how low we can make our FICO scores (525). Things are still tight, and I still believe the end is near, but everybody seems to have been on good behavior lately.
If is hard not to feel stress and anger when you work for a management team who knew the company was in financial trouble late last summer but this team continued to throw sales meeting which cost the company tons of money, holiday parties, hand out bonus checks and then come the first of the year say we are in trouble. It is managements responsibility to use common sense and to quit spending when the company is loosing money. If the management team was more proactive instead of reactive maybe just maybe the company would not have laid off and closed as many branches as they have to date. When people had to be laid off where was management?
Employees have a responsibility to the company who employs them and management has a responsibility to the employees. When one or both fail, everyone looses. Unfortunately, it is my personal belief that management bares most of the responsibility for the downfall of this organization.
Rhonda, if you really want to defend First NLC then why are you joining the lawsuit. If you really think you were treated fairly, why are you wanting money today for hours you donated to the company? According to what you wrote, you should be happy with what you were paid at the time.
I agree, ever since new management took over in retail First NLC was never the same and they really do not care about anyone that works for them other than that they are profitable at whatever expense. Integrity and honesty will not win you any points at First NLC, so stay for the paycheck if you want to but be prepared......
I recently got a job offer from first NLC in the northeast region. The salary was 24,000 a year plus commissions and my recruiter told me that I should expect to make between 45,000 and 65,000 in the first year, he said that was the average. He also said that you should expect to work from 9:45 AM till around 7:00 PM. I want to know if this information is accurate and what the turnover rate is like for a first year loan officer, thank you.
